Where I'm From...

I am from fish and chips,
From hot tea and sweet, soft scones.
I am from the little white cottage by the sea;
The fresh green vines climbing up the concrete,
And the tiny pot plants with stems peeking out.

I am from the rose,
The thorny stem with the soft, red petals,
And the one that has now entered my name.
I am from “don’t give up,” and “think positive”
And a munchkin I am still called.

I am from the everlasting Christmas, and
The roast beef with the steaming hot gravy,
From my dad who spends hours in the kitchen,
And my mom who is laying out the table.

I am from the crazy playing and screaming on
A Saturday night, and the lazy but calm roast
Dinners on a Sunday evening.

I am from the cold but dazzling UK, which I’m proud
To call my home, and the place my whole family grew up in,
The warm, hot chocolate that thrills my mouth,
and the sweet or sticky pancakes in the early morning sun.

From the dolls to the stage, and the clothes to the rides,
the world around me changes every day.
My mom and dad are my angels,
They are my guardians while the world is spinning around.

I am from Europe,
the place where all the black and white photos are from,
and the place I took my first step, my first word, and my first ride.
It’s the place where I look up to and remember,
Forever and ever,
And a world I’ll never forget.

Japan's Disaster

On March 11th, 2011, a massive earthquake with a high magnitude of 8.9, hit the north eastern part of Japan. The sound of it happening was audible to anyone that was close by, and suddenly made everyone worried and feel a pang of fright. Reporters have announced a copious amount of deaths and injuries, and have made it crucial for everyone to look and help all the other people caught in the attack.

Japan tried to deploy as many countries like the U.S, the U.K, and China to come and help out. They wanted to facilitate the job, making it easier for everyone that was helping, but they knew it would not be like that.

With all the disaster that has struck, Japan would probably want adept people that could really help out and make a difference.

With so many people running and trying to get away, buildings were needed to be capacious in order to hold many survivors.

Apart from the earthquake, a terrible tsunami hit 15 minutes after the earthquake. Due to how fast tsunamis travel, everyone was just hoping it could possibly decelerate; therefore, giving them more time to reach safety.

But everyone must still have hope, they should look up at the azure of the beautiful sky upon them, and let the shimmering light from the gleaming sun brighten up their day.

A New Phone

Here I am again, staring straight into the computer with a sulk; I was tired, I was bored, I had nothing to do except groan. Sometimes, I wish that i—oh never mind, it’s pretty stupid, but I’ll tell you… I wish I had superpowers, so then I could break out of here and get some decent fish and chips…

About ten minutes after my complete and utter boredom, my dad came in, holding his old blackberry phone in his left hand.

“Katy, how would you like to have my old Blackberry™, it’s just the same as your sister’s, and it will come in very handy for you,” He said to me.

“Really? Yay! I’m in! Thanks dad!” I said happily.

“Ok. But you need a cover, Hannah has two extra, a multicolour and a bright pink, which do you want?” he asked.

Was he out of his mind? There is no choice! There is NO way I’m having a bright, hot pink cover on my Blackberry™, it just doesn’t suit me!

“Uh… dad, do you honestly think, that i—your daughter—is going to have that pink one? I think I’ll go with the multicolour one” I replied.

My dad agreed and plugged it in to charge, then he left.

Three things have really cheered up my day—getting a new phone, being able to have what my sister has, and not having to worry about fish and chips today anymore.

The Diary of a Young Girl

I believe that the significance of the title in this Memoir is very clear, read the title, and you will know right away what it’s about, but just in case, it’s significance is that it’s about a young girl who writes about her life in a diary which she names “Kitty.”

The book is about the author, Anne M. Frank, who received her diary when she was 12 years old, and writes in it nearly every day about her new life in hiding.

The memoir was written as an epistle novel, which is another term for journal of diary.

Throughout the story, Anne was trying to find her true self. I think she came to know that, life has choices, and you have to make a decision which you can’t always make, because you’re afraid of hurting the other person. I believe that she also needed courage, bravery, intelligence, things that would get her to show her feelings toward her family and everyone else living in the Annex.

I thought this diary was written with true thought, true passion, and true heart. She captures every bit of detail that happens and writes it down, and writes it like her diary is the only one who would understand her, her only friend. I think this book is written extremely well, I don’t think it’s the best book I’ve read, but anyone who likes a true, adventurous, thrilling novel, then this memoir is the one for you.

Lines we love:

“On top of the world, or In the depths of despair.” (Page: 153)
“What I could be if… if there were no other people in the world.” (Page: 337)

What i Believe

I believe that love is a chocolate you can’t bite,
a delicate taste of life in your heart,
and a sweet mixture of family and friends put together.

I believe an accent is a gift,
a way to make you smile,
and a way to make you feel special.

I believe chocolate keeps me going.

I believe the sun warms your heart,
a ray of sunlight cheers you up when you’re feeling sad,
and is a way to brighten up your day.

I believe cookies make you hungrier,
that they make you eager to eat another, and
another and another...

I believe everyone has their own opinion,
so when my sister asks me about her outfit,
I have no fear; no terror of saying what I think.

I believe that laughter is hard to control.

I believe nothing is impossible,
so with great care and practice,
you can achieve.

I believe that you should always
look on the bright side, and forget
about all your bad memories.

I believe in Family.

I believe music can clear your mind,
so you can start out fresh on a new day.

I believe everyone should be honest,
because what's the point in lying?
you should always tell the truth.

I believe we all make mistakes,
but some day we fix them,

and then we carry on with what
we believe.

My Drama Queen Sister

My sister is quite arrogant, she always seems to want to be recognized, so then she could be lionized. She always tries to do her best, go to every party available, and then get a new dress for each one. She can drive me crazy, since I never get that much attention at school and I just try to assimilate into the group. It’s like she’s trying to be the most popular girl in school, and she is popular already.

She’s very meticulous when it comes to shopping, if something is the wrong colour, she hates it, if something has 21 sequins, instead of 20, she hates it, it takes her forever to decide, and it drives me insane.

My mom picks very nice dresses out for my sister, but my sister just turns them down, and then the dissension begins. My mom and sister don’t agree on many clothes, but they can sometimes, but they have to both be in a very good mood.

So anyways, you can see that my sister is quite the drama queen, and she is, i know it, and in my strong opinion, we are from completely different planets, no! Different worlds, or would different universes fit in place??

The Start of a New Beginning

The speech last night that Obama gave out, was a speech given to help the citizens of America apprehend what was happening in the country. The President looked into everyone’s eyes, and tried to reassure them, that coalition was the start of a new beginning.

The shooting in Arizona on January 8th was a terrible moment, and that one member of state was wounded with a bullet shot into her head, but fortunatly, she survived. It was tragic that it happend to this paticular woman, just because she was mixed in with regular citizens in front of a supermarket. The people who did this, obviously would have conspired before attacking the state. I could see them in this dark room, arguing over who got to be a part of the killing, and who didn’t. I don’t understand why people would want to kill innocent people, and risk getting thrown into jail; It just doesn’t seem right, and I believe that this should be dealt with. I feel like the presidents always want the government to be in good shape, due to the fact that at the beginning of time, the U.S. was in a state of anarchy, no one was ruling until our first president rose to the surface and the start of a new beginning was born.
